The effects of the Chevrolet Apocalypse Commercial

So Ford is literally fuming with smoke flying out of each ear like a classic cartoon following the new Chevrolet advertisement. For those not familiar with the ad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxFYYP8040A), basically the 2012 Mayan apocalypse prediction hits and you see a Chevy Silverado 1500 drive out of a pile of rubble and down a deserted street. He soon stumbles upon other survivors (all in Silverados of different age) and asks where Dave is. This is answered by "Dave didn't drive the longest lasting, most dependable truck on the road. Dave drove a Ford." This all happens as "Looks like we made it" is playing in the background.

Now before this ad even premiered during the Super Bowl last weekend, Ford had already asked NBC to pull the ad and filed a cease and desist order against Chevrolet for the ad. Since it showed, there has still be a lot of talk and squabbling between Ford and Chevrolet and not the Ram Brand of trucks (since the Chevrolet marketing  head declared there are only two trucks in competition in the USA).

A recent report from thecarconnection.com has found data showing the ad benefited Ford more than Chevrolet since its premier. Since Kelley Blue Book keeps an eye on which vehicles visitors to the site are interested in, they declared that they saw an immediate rise following the commercial which was also interesting considering Ford did not have a major commercial. Ford also continued to see a surge in interest following the Super Bowl while interest in the Silverado only rose slightly following the commercial and leveled off following the game. In fact, the Silverado has seen shopper interest in the Silverado drop off by about 25%.

I wonder how upset Ford is now?
