F30 BMW 328i more fuel efficient than E90 Diesel

(Property of BMWUSA)
One of the cars I cannot wait to drive is the new F30 BMW 328i. Although many feel the reduction of the inline-6 from the last 3 series to a turbo four in a car that keeps growing in size should be considered a crime punishable by death. However, I feel the new I-4 Turbo is a great engine. Obviously it does not have the experience of the I-6 from the old car and we can only assume the quality is good on the new 2.0 but its power figures of 240 bhp and 260 lb.-ft of torque are figures that cannot be ignored.

The old 335d did have higher power figures but that also came with a much high price tag so the diesel 3 series is just as useless as any hybrid car on the market in that you are overpaying to be "green." That is a different story, back to the BMW. The new 328i is expected to net 24mpg city and 36mpg highway with the 335i only netting one less city mpg.

The odds of it happening are low but if BMW really wants to have a green 3-series in the US, they will drop the four cylinder diesel found in the previous 320d into the new lighter more aerodynamic F30 Bimmer.
